The Faenza team is the fifth Formula 1 2021 team to unveil the presentation date of its new car for this season.
After Mercedes announced earlier in the week that it will show its W12 on March 2, AlphaTauri slipped this Thursday on his social networks that he will do the same on February 19 with his call AT02.
Thus, the Italian team will be the third to show its new car and livery, since, for the moment, Alpine continues to occupy the first place (February 14).
AlphaTauri arrives in 2021 after a great 202 season in which Pierre Gasly added a surprising victory in the Italian GP. Joining the Frenchman this year will be Honda’s Japanese junior Yuki Tsunoda, who completed an impressive debut season in F2 2020.
In fact, the Japanese has been testing an old team car in recent weeks on the circuits of Imola Y Misano to gain confidence with the characteristics of F1 before the preseason.
“We are getting stronger in every aspect of the processes, but also in terms of discipline and track management. People are more and more motivated,” he commented Franz Tost, team leader, at the end of 2020.
“We have two very good drivers as well. Pierre improved a lot and has reached a great level, so he can have great performances.”
AlphaTauri will equip Honda engines in 2021, before the Japanese brand again says goodbye to F1 at the end of the year. The continuity of the power unit project managed by Red Bull is still up in the air, and should be resolved in the coming weeks.
