A new beginning
São João del-Rei is a city far from beaches, tourism and noise. It is a quiet, modern, university city located in the state of Minas Gerais. The best known clubs are Cruzeiro and Mineiro, at some point they were briefly joined by Uberlandia FC, which also once played in the first in Brazil and now does so in the Mineiro Championship.
This small city, known for being the birthplace of Tancredo Neves, former prime minister and president of Brazil (he died before taking office) is home to a football club like in every corner of the country: Athletic Club, from São João del-Rei.
This week the usual tranquility was revolutionized, the most nomadic Uruguayan in the world of football, announced his arrival.

The Athletic Club of São João del-Rei will participate in the Mining Championship, organized by the Mining Football Federation. Ronaldo, Tostão (they debuted in him), Taffarel, Dida, Gilberto Silva, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, the most renowned, once played in that competition.
